Apple releases iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 to fix critical security vulnerability

Apple has released the iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 operating system updates for its devices, which bring a critical security fix for iPhones and iPads.

Apple has released the iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 operating system updates for its devices. The update is meant to address a critical security vulnerability for iPhone and iPad devices. It also brings some other security fixes.

iOS 15.3 and iPadOS 15.3 fix a critical bug in Safari’s WebKit browser engine, which allowed any website using a specific JavaScript API to access the databases generated by other websites. This meant that a malicious hacker could format a website in a way to spy on users, seeing which other websites they had visited. This could also lead to leaking of personal information, including phone numbers and emails.

Incidentally, Apple has also released the macOS Monterey 12.2 update for Mac devices to fix this bug on desktop.

Along with this fix, the update also brings some other security fixes for WebKit, and some for iCloud and ColorSync implementations on iOS and iPadOS.

iPhone and iPad users should have received the update on their devices already. Users can manually check for the update by going to Settings, General, and Software Update.
