Apple launched a new iPhone SE and iPad Air, along with the powerful M1 Ultra chipset and Mac Studio desktop computer.

Apple launches new iPhone SE, iPad Air, and Mac Studio with Studio Display

Apple launched a wave of new products at their 'Peek Performance' launch event on March 8, including a new iPhone SE, a new iPad Air, and a Mac Studio desktop computer, powered by a new M1 Ultra chipset. The company also debuted a new green colour for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro smartphones.

iPhone SE (2022)

Apple has refreshed the iPhone SE for 2022, which is now powered by the A15 Bionic chipset, which also powers the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. The new iPhone SE also gets 5G capabilities, and an upgraded 12MP single rear camera. The phone retains its design, with a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display, and physical home button with Touch ID support. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.

The iPhone SE (2022) price in India starts at ₹43,900 for the 64GB variant. Pre-orders open March 11, and the phone will be available starting March 18.

iPad Air (2022)

Apple has also updated the iPad Air for 2022, and it is now powered by the Apple M1 chip, same as the iPad Pro and MacBook Air. With the M1, the iPad Air is now 60% faster than the previous model. The tablet retains the 11-inch Liquid Retina display, but gets a new 12MP ultra-wide front camera, with center stage support. It also sports a 12MP rear camera than can record 4K video. For connectivity, the tablet continues to carry a USB-C port, and supports the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard accessories.

The iPad Air (2022) price in India starts at ₹54,900 for the 64GB Wi-Fi only version. Pre-orders open March 11, and the phone will be available starting March 18.

M1 Ultra

Apple introduced the new M1 Ultra chipset, the most powerful entrant in the M1 lineup, along with the M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max chipsets. The M1 Ultra is effectivity two M1 Max chipsets fused together, thanks to the M1 Max's 2.5TB/s inter-processor connection.

The M1 Ultra, which appears as a single SoC to the system, features a 20-core CPU with 16 performance and 4 efficiency cores, and a 64-core GPU, along with a 32-core Neural Engine for AI processing. It supports up to 128GB of RAM.

Mac Studio

Apple also introduced the Mac Studio desktop computer, powered by the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chipsets. The Mac Studio can include up to a 20-core CPU and 64-core GPU, and up to 128GB RAM. For connectivity, the system offers up to six Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, a 10Gb ethernet port, HDMI, and an SDCard reader, along with a high-impedance 3.5mm audio jack.

The Mac Studio starts at ₹1,89,900 for the variant with the M1 Max chipset, while the M1 Ultra chipset variant starts at ₹3,89,900. The Mac Studio can be ordered right away, and will be available starting March 18.

Studio Display

Apple also launched the new Studio Display, a 27-inch 5K Retina monitor that offers 600 nits brightness. The Studio Display gets a 12MP ultra-wide camera with Center Stage support, and a six-speaker sound system with support for spatial audio. The monitor connects using a Thunderbolt port, and offers three more USB-C ports for peripherals.

In India, the Studio Display price starts at ₹1,59,900. The monitor is available to order now, and ships in 2-3 weeks.
