Apple announces WWDC 2022 to be held online starting June 6

Apple has announced that WWDC, their conference for developers, will be held in an online-only format for 2022. The event will run from June 6 to June 10. Attendance will be free for all developers.

WWDC was held as an in-person event in San Jose, California prior to 2020, but has been reimagined as an online-only event since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apple traditionally announces software updates at WWDC, and this year too fans can expect announcements on new features for Apple’s host of operating systems, including iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

Though the event is free for all developers worldwide to attend virtually, Apple will also host an in-person gathering at Apple Park on June 6 for students and developers to watch the keynote videos together. There are limited spaces, and Apple will take applications for spots.

Though Apple does not normally announce new hardware at WWDC, there is some speculation that they could announce a new Mac Pro computer, powered by Apple Silicon, and a new MacBook Air.
