10th-generation Apple iPad to get a USB-C port

New reports suggest that Apple might finally replace the lightning port on its base iPad. The company's upcoming 10th-generation iPad is expected to include a USB-C connector, which is already present on the company's higher-end iPad models.

The addition of a more functional USB-C port to the base iPad would broaden its appeal to a larger audience, including Android phone owners who were put off by the lack of a USB-C charging port on this tablet.

Because USB-C offers quicker transfer speeds and a wider range of peripherals, it will open up a world of possibilities for iPad owners, since the current lightning connector is still based on the slower USB 2.0 standard.
