The developers of Pegasus, the spyware that was allegedly used by several countries to spy on politicians, judiciary, officials, activists and journalists have said that they will thoroughly investigate any credible proof of misuse of its technologies and will shut down the system where necessary, according to a news report by NDTV.

Israel's NSO, the makers of Pegasus, also said that they will no longer respond to media inquiries about the snooping scandal that emerged after an expose by Amnesty International and French news non-profit Forbidden Stories.

A report published by The Wire based on a leaked list revealed that the Pegasus spyware allegedly targeted at least 40 Indian journalists. NSO has repeatedly denied having any connection with any of the lists leaked by Amnesty and Forbidden Stories.
