With the emergence of the Delta Plus variant, the threat of a 3rd wave is looming large even as the nation is barely recovering from the effects of the 2nd wave.

However, a study conducted by the Indian Council Of Medical Research and the Imperial College London has said a third wave of Covid infections seems unlikely to be as severe as the second wave.

The emergence of a third wave in India could be substantially mitigated by the expansion of vaccination, says the study, adding the rollout of vaccine should be in such a way as to cover 40 per cent of the population.
