CM Dhami reiterates vision to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to making Uttarakhand the best state in the country on all developmental fronts.

Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, CM Dhami said that the third decade of the 21st century will mark a golden chapter in the state's progress.

“The Prime Minister had said from the land of Baba Kedar that the third decade of the twenty-first century will be the decade of Uttarakhand. It means that the coming 10 years will be a time of prosperity for Uttarakhand. Whatever resolution Uttarakhand takes will be successful,” said the Chief Minister. “Our aim is to make Uttarakhand the best state in the country, and for achieving this aim, just as we have always received your blessings, your cooperation, and your support, we will continue to receive it in the future as well,” he added.

Earlier in the day, CM Dhami met with Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at his residence.

As part of his ongoing focus on employment, CM Dhami handed over appointment letters to 144 newly selected candidates for posts in the Irrigation Department and to 43 eligible dependents under the deceased quota in the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation—totaling 187 appointments.

Congratulating the appointees, the Chief Minister urged them to work with honesty, transparency, and dedication. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to clear the long-pending cases of deceased employees’ dependents, noting that last year, 150 such appointments were made, and the remaining 43 were fulfilled on Sunday.

CM Dhami also credited the state government's efficient functioning for helping the Transport Corporation achieve a record profit of over ₹56 crore in 2024.

Referring to past irregularities in recruitment, the Chief Minister said, “Earlier, there used to be a lot of favouritism, rigging, and corruption in recruitments in the state.” To address this, he said, the government implemented the strictest anti-copying law in the country. “Now, recruitments in the state are being ensured on the basis of complete transparency and merit so that eligible candidates are getting the full benefit of their skills and hard work.”

According to the Chief Minister, over 23,000 young people in Uttarakhand have secured government jobs in the last three and a half years.

He reiterated the government's zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, stating, “Now no one is spared in corruption cases.”

CM Dhami also echoed Prime Minister Modi's call to promote indigenous products. “Our resolve towards a self-reliant India should be even stronger. Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is committed to realising the Prime Minister's mantra of a self-reliant India,” he said.

Speaking on the significance of the new recruits in the Irrigation Department, the Chief Minister added, “The candidates selected in the Irrigation Department prepare maps and designs of irrigation projects, as well as prepare a framework for future development. Irrigation schemes are being continuously expanded in our state. The candidates selected today are the pillars of irrigation projects, who will work to deliver water to the farmers' fields with their technical skills.”
