Bengal Warriorz Announce Devank Dalal as Captain for PKL 12

Kolkata, Aug 26 — The Bengal Warriorz have named star raider Devank Dalal as their captain for the upcoming season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League, with seasoned defender Nitesh Kumar taking the role of defence captain. Dalal, who fetched a record Rs 2.205 crore as the most expensive Indian signing, is fresh off a remarkable season 11 where he amassed 301 raid points, all after overcoming a near-fatal skull injury just two years prior. Nitesh Kumar brings his wealth of experience to the team's defence, being the sole player to surpass 100 tackle points in a PKL season and boasting over 400 career tackles. "I've fought hard to be back on this stage, and I want to lead with that same determination," Dalal shared in a press release. "In kabaddi, holding the line is as essential as scoring points," Nitesh remarked. "My focus will be to bring stability, guide the younger players, and ensure our defence sets the tone for the team. If we stay strong at the back, our raiders will always have the freedom to win us matches." Head coach Naveen Kumar expressed confidence in the duo, citing their "fearless attack and defence stability" as key attributes that make them the perfect leaders for a youthful Warriorz squad aspiring to play bold kabaddi this season.
