Theron, Iftikar Ahmed and Shadab Khan took matters into their hands as they lifted the sinking side with brisk 50s. In reply, South Africa’s game plan was hindered early with Shaheen Shah Afridi ousting the dangerous Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw in the first 2 overs itself. Temba Bavuma however tried to bring the game back on track with a 19-ball-36, but he fell prey to Shadab Khan who also ousted Aiden Markram in the same 7th over before rain interrupted play. South Africa were set a revised target of 142 runs in 14 overs via the DLS method, they needed 73 off five overs after rain cut short the game by six overs. A scintillating performance by the Pakistan bowlers restricted Proteas to 108/9 in 14 overs as they kept their semifinal hopes alive.
