T20 World Cup 2022: Australia worried about more positive Covid cases in squad

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald expressed his concern about finding more Covid cases in their squad.

The 41-year-old in an interview after their abandoned match versus England said that there was a high possibility of more cases within the squad with the way things have gone.

Adam Zampa was the first player in the squad to test positive for Covid, with wicketkeeper batter Matthew Wade returning a positive test only days later.

The coach further stated that the virus affects everyone differently. While Adam Zampa missed the clash against Sri Lanka, Matthew Wade was set to feature against England despite the virus.

McDonald said Zampa had to isolate differently since he wasn't too well but Wade on the other hand barely had any symptoms.

According to the current ICC regulation, a player who has tested positive for Covid can still play but has to keep his distance from his teammates and travel separately.
