Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra struck gold at the Kuortane Games on Saturday. Despite some very tough conditions due to incessant rainfall in Finland, Chopra won his first gold medal of the season.
While rain had a big say in the performance of all the javelin throwers, no opponent could breach Chopra’s very first throw of 86.69 metres. There could have been an injury scare for the 24-year-old after he had a nasty fall on the wet track during his third attempt but thankfully, the Athletics Federation of India confirmed in a tweet that the Olympic Champion was doing fine.
Chopra’s rival Anderson Peters, who has breached the 90-metre mark twice in the calendar year, once again finished behind the Indian in third. With the World Championships less than a month away, Neeraj Chopra is looking good for another big performance on the world stage.
Earlier this week, in his very first attempt after the Tokyo Olympics, he missed out on the 90-metre mark by just 70 centimetres but managed to set a new national record with his throw.
The Indian star will be in action next on June 30 at the Stockholm Diamond League.

National coach RK Sharma, who was dismissed recently after India’s top cyclist accused him of sexual harassment, is facing another allegation of objectionable behavior by International gold medallist Deborah Herold. 
While speaking to The Indian Express, the national champion said that she was removed from the national team, after the team’s assistant coach, Gautamani Devi ‘thought she was in a relationship with another female cyclist’. 
Clarifying that Devi misunderstood their relationship, the Andaman-based cyclist spoke about the discomfort she faced before being removed from the national camp. The 27-year-old said that the coach & the assistant coach constantly harassed her by ignoring her, taunting her, and eventually she was also isolated from the rest of the cyclists. 
Herold was removed from the team in 2018, when she was the country’s fastest cyclist in 200m sprint and 500m time trial events. 
The National champion also accused Sharma of ‘slapping’ her in 2015. ‘The ac in my room was not working, I went to a fellow boy’s room for which he slapped me twice, she said.
Apart from Herold, 2 other members of the national team have also accused Sharma of ‘constantly harassing and threatening them’ which they said, affected their performance over the years. 
Sports Authority of India dismissed RK Sharma from his position after a top cyclist alleged that the coach forced her to stay in his room, offered her a post-training massage, forcefully tried to pull her towards himself, and asked her to sleep with him during a camp in Slovenia in May.

FIFA also took into consideration the disruptive effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and increased the squad size. Priorly only 22 players were allowed to play in each squad for any international tournament.

After the 25-year-old completed the women's solo free artistic swimming finals, she fainted and sank to the bottom of the pool. Immediately her coach, Andrea Fuentes jumped into the pool fully dressed to rescue her.
The swimmer who was unsconscious and not breathing, was quickly sent to Team USA's medical center in front of shocked fans.

The 20-time Grand slam champion and world no.1 Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic was knocked out of the Monte Carlo Masters in the second round after facing defeat against the world no.46 Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Tuesday.

Djokovic lost the first set but fought back to win the second. However, it wasn't enough as the Spaniard easily took the third set on his side. In a three-hour match, Djokovic was beaten 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
This was for the first time in almost two months that the Serb played in a tournament. He received a bye in the first round. Djokovic would be aiming to make a comeback at Serbia Open next week.

The 20-time Grand slam champion and World No.1 Serbian tennis player&nbsp;Novak Djokovic&nbsp;was knocked out of the Monte-Carlo Masters in the second&nbsp;round after facing a defeat against the World No.46 Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich&nbsp;Fokina&nbsp;on Tuesday.

This was for the first time in almost two months that the Serb played in a tournament. He received a bye in the first round. Djokovic&nbsp;would be&nbsp;aiming to make a comeback at Serbia Open next week.

Amid transgender athletes getting banned from participating in women's international events, India's star sprinter Dutee Chand termed the move unfair. 
While talking to the Times of India, the two-time Asian Games medallist said that transgender athletes are not getting any unfair advantage during competitions.

She also added that transgenders have already faced a lot of societal pressure and humiliation to reach the top level and one should not make things difficult for them. 
The current national champion in 100-metre race further added that it should be accepted as a god's gift because what's happening in an individual human body shouldn't concern others. 
Dutee was once accused of being a man after failing the male testosterone test. She fought against World Athletics' hyperandrogenism policy in the Court of Arbitration for Sports in 2015, which brought her global sporting fame.

"It's a great feeling and I want to race again," Rambai told the Times of India.
She broke the 5-year-old national record created by Man Kaur, who completed the 100-meter race in 74 seconds. Kaur was 101 years old then.

The 105-year-old lady further revealed that she wanted to run at a younger age but no one gave her a chance. She started racing at the age of 104.
