Here's why Roger Federer is unlikely to participate in Wimbledon 2022

Still recovering from knee surgery, tennis star Roger Federer is unlikely to participate in the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, a Swiss newspaper reported quoting his coach Severin Luthi.

While speaking to a German-language newspaper, Luthi said he can't imagine Federer playing Wimbledon at the moment.

"He's still in the rehabilitation phase. Not only do the knee and leg muscles have to be built up, but the whole body also has to be strengthened. It's a full conditioning program", Federer's coach added.

Earlier, Federer said that it would be difficult for him to return to the ATP tour. In 2021 Wimbledon, Federer was knocked out in the quarterfinals.

40-year-old Federer is tied with Novak Djokovic on 20 Grand Slam titles. While Rafael Nadal has won 21 Grand Slam titles.
