IPL 2022, Match 6, KKR vs RCB: Bangalore beat Kolkata by 3 wickets in low-scoring nail-biter

IPL 2022, KKR vs RCB Match 6 Highlights : A gusty Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) played with caution after losing three quick wickets in the powerplay and registered their first win of IPL 2022 as they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 3 wickets at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Chasing a modest 129-run target, RCB lost Anuj Rawat, Faf du Plessis, and Virat Kohli inside 13 deliveries with only 17 runs on the board. It seemed as if Bangalore would collapse like a house of cards as they used to do in the previous seasons after a top-order collapse.

However, all-rounders David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford stitched a 45-run stand and put RCB's chase on track. But Kolkata kept on taking wickets at regular intervals and at last RCB needed seven runs off 6 deliveries. The decision to hold Dinesh Karthik worked well for RCB as the wicketkeeper-batter smashed a six and a boundary to overhaul the target.

Earlier, Bangalore produced a spirited bowling performance and bundled out KKR to 128. Both KKR openers were dismissed early in search of big runs as Bangalore's bowlers started with hard-length deliveries. Nitish Rana went for a glory shot and threw his wicket away.

The others followed the counter-attacking game plan as well and failed miserably. Thus KKR lost seven wickets inside 12 overs. Andre Russell who arrived at the crease in the 9th over tried to steer the Kolkata innings with some big hits but failed to take his team out of Shambles as Harshal Patel ended his innings. Wanindu Hasaranga registered the best bowling figures for RCB with 4 wickets in 4 overs. Meanwhile, Harshal started with two wicket maidens and ended with the match figures of 2 for 11.
