'Keep pushing yourself': Jasprit Bumrah focusing on process after five-wicket haul against RCB | IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets in the IPL here on Thursday.

RCB managed to reach to 196 for 8 despite Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul. While Faf du Plessis made 61 off 40 balls, Rajat Patidar hit 50 off 26 balls.

Mixing up his fiery yorkers perfectly with sharp bouncers, Bumrah snaffled the in-form Virat Kohli (3) early on to extend his ordinary run at the Wankhede Stadium while playing the IPL. Du Plessis and Patidar banished their poor run with their respective half-centuries while putting on 82 runs for the third wicket, but Bumrah, who bowled three overs post the halfway mark, broke the back of RCB’s resistance with a terrific spell.

Jasprit Bumran won the Player of the Match award for his terrific spell in the match. Speaking during their post-match presentation, Bumrah opened up on his preparation before he steps into the field and said, "In this format, it's anyway very harsh on the bowlers so you have to have all kinds of skills. This is what I train for. Come this situation, I should have different options"

"For me, preparation is always the key. When you prepare hard, you put yourself under pressure in the nets. You bowl to batters in the nets who hit big sixes, find out how you react to pressure. Then you start finding answers. That is very very important for me - to keep pushing yourself in training. Then on game day, you have answers that okay when I had similar pressure in training", added Mumbai Indians pacer.
