IPL 2022, RR VS KKR: Chahal & McCoy star as Rajasthan defeat Kolkata by 7 runs

It was an all-round show by Rajasthan as they registered their 4th win of the season after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs at the Brabourne Stadium on Monday.

Despite losing Sunil Narine on the first ball, skipper Shreyas Iyer and opener Aaron Finch provided the impetus to the side with a brilliant 107-run partnership. However, Kolkata failed to maintain the momentum after Prasidh Krishna removed Aaron Finch. Though Shreyas Iyer kept the spirits high, wickets kept falling on the other end regularly. But, it was Yuzvendra Chahal’s 17th over that changed the complexion of the game completely. Chahal picked a total of 4 wickets including a hat-trick. Obed McCoy, then gave the finishing touch as he took 2 wickets in the last over and forced Kolkata to wrap their innings at 210 with 2 balls to spare.

Sent in to bat first, Jos Buttler played a magnificent inning as he smashed his 2nd ton of this season. With able support from Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmeyer, Buttler helped Rajasthan post an intimidating total. Kolkata presented a fightback in the later overs as they got 4 wickets in quick succession to limit Rajasthan. However, Shimron Hetmeyer smashed 3 boundaries in the last over to make it to 217, the highest total of the season so far.
