IPL 2022, Match 7, CSK vs LSG: Lucknow Super Giants beat Chennai Super Kings in a high-scoring thriller

IPL 2022, CSK vs LSG: Lucknow Super Giants(LSG) registered their first win in the IPL 2022 as they defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings(CSK) by six wickets in a high-scoring thriller on Thursday.

Chasing a mammoth 211-run target, first-timers LSG completed the task with three balls to spare at the Brabourne Stadium.

Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul provided a solid start as the duo stitched a 99-run opening stand. Lucknow witnessed a minor hiccup after the dismissal of Rahul, who scored 40 runs off 26 deliveries. de Kock went on to score fifty but his innings was cut short by Dwaine Pretorius. As wickets kept tumbling from other end, Evin Lewis blazed away 55 off 23 balls and sealed the game for Lucknow.

Earlier, vintage Robin Uthappa was on display as he went hammer & tongs from the start and propelled the CSK innings after Ruturaj Gaikwad went off cheaply.

Uthappa scored a fluent 50 off 27 balls to give Chennai a solid start before Shivam Dube smashed 49 off 30 deliveries.

Meanwhile, in the death overs captain, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni sent Lucknow's bowlers to leather hunt. Dhoni went on to score 16 off 6 deliveries while Jadeja smashed nine-ball 17.

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi with 2 for 24 was the pick of the bowlers for Lucknow. Andrew Tye managed to pick two wickets in his final over.
