IPL 2022: Ambati Rayudu is not retiring, confirms CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan

After Ambati Rayudu's now-deleted Twitter post created a frenzy, Chennai Super Kings' CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that their star cricketer is not retiring. The 36-year-old batter had earlier posted his decision of retiring from IPL on his Twitter account.

'I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL, I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years, would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for the wonderful journey', his Twitter post read.

Quashing the news, Viswanathan issued a clarification. 'That's wrong news, He is not retiring, we are not worried, he said while speaking to India today. He confirmed that the cricketer will be playing for CSK next year as well.

Rayudu who has been a part of the Yellow army since 2018 will be available for selection next year. Rayudu made his IPL debut in 2010 for Mumbai Indians. This year, the MS Dhoni-led-side bought him back for 6.75 crores during the IPL Mega Auction and for his current team, he has scored 271 runs in 10 innings in the ongoing season. Overall, Rayudu is the 12th highest run-getter in IPL with 4,187 runs in 187 matches.
