'Definitely playing for next 3 years', Shikhar Dhawan on retirement

Despite leading Team India to victory in the Sri Lanka series in 2021, Shikhar Dhawan did not get to play in the World T20. However, his positivity remains unscathed as the 36-year-old who is a regular in the Indian ODI squad feels he has a lot to give in the T20 format and he will definitely play for the next three years.

Being one of the few batters who have amassed over 400 runs in the past 7 IPL seasons, Dhawan's consistency in the shortest format of the game remains unquestionable. In the ongoing season too, Dhawan scored 431 runs in 13 matches at an average of 38 for Punjab Kings. However, the intense competition in the T20 format at the international level has marred the chances of Shikhar Dhawan who plays as the opener in the ODI format.

I still feel I can contribute in the shortest format of the game because of my experience, Dhawan said, adding that whatever role he has been given, he has done well. Dhawan who has played 34 Tests, 149, ODIs and 68 T20s for India does not let the pressure of not being selected get to him. 'I am only looking for growth and analysing if I can get better', Dhawan said.
