Virat Kohli's century sparks chaos as Biryani offer nearly causes a stampede in UP's Bahraich

An eatery owner in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich faced unexpected chaos when his offer of a discount equivalent to the runs scored by cricketer Virat Kohli led to a near stampede. The restaurant, located in the Tikoni Bagh area of Dehat police, announced a discount matching the number of runs made by Kohli in the semifinal against New Zealand. However, the situation escalated when Kohli scored a century in the World Cup game.

The discount, reaching 100 per cent due to Kohli's century, meant that plates of chicken and mutton biryani were offered for free, triggering a rush of people eager to avail the unexpected promotion. Viral visuals on social media amplified the crowd, with individuals jostling to join the queue for complimentary biryani.

As the demand surged, and before the restaurant owner could fulfil the orders, law enforcement had to intervene to manage the crowd. The situation intensified when those in the queue demanded more biryani, leading to tensions.

To prevent potential vandalism, the restaurant owner eventually had to temporarily close the establishment, securing it with chains.
