Premier League: Manchester United name Erik ten Hag as the new manager

English Premier League club Manchester United have appointed Erik ten Hag as the new 1st team manager. The 52-year-old will take over the reins from Ralf Rangnick from 1st July 2022 with the start of the new season of the Premier League. ten Hag will be the 5th permanent manager of the Red Devils since the retirement of Alex Ferguson in 2013 after David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Erik ten Hag who is currently the manager of Dutch side Ajax is considered one of the best in the business. He has led the Dutch team since December 2017 and has won winning the league and cup double in 2019 and 2021. 2019 was a pretty exceptional season for Erik ten Hag and Ajax as they reached the Champions League semifinals after knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus.

2023 will mark 10 years since Manchester United won the Premier League and the last silverware in the form of the Europa League came to Old Trafford in 2017. Current interim manager Ralf Rangnick has also sounded a warning to the existing squad and sees a complete transformation of the team that once ruled European and English football.
