Lionel Messi: Retirement on the cards for Argentine superstar?

The name Lionel Messi is synonymous with greatness. And rightly so.

Six months after winning the elusive FIFA World Cup, the 36-year-old has dropped a hint about his much-talked about retirement in an interview with Adidas Football.

Speaking about a conclusion to his glittering career, the Argentina captain said, 'Now almost at the end of my career to finish in this way as a champion of everything is something I’m enjoying immensely.'

La Pulga, as Messi is fondly known, has 7 Ballon D'Ors to his name, the most by any player in history. Apart from that, he has cemented his place in history as one of the greatest, through his numerous victories in club and country football, a World Cup win most recently.

In the interview, he also added, 'I learned it’s not only about winning, but the journey itself also teaches valuable life lessons and I believe that desire to achieve, the willingness to try, especially when things may or may not work out is crucial. Never give up on your dreams.'
