French footballers face racial abuse after World Cup 2022 loss, France Football Federation reacts

French Football Federation has strongly condemned the online ‘racist and hateful comments’ that the French players received following their World Cup 2022 loss to Argentina.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the French football body informed that it has decided to file a complaint against those who posted abuse online. 'The French soccer federation condemns with the utmost firmness these intolerable behaviours and abuses,' the statement read.

The online abuse was mainly towards Kingsley Coman and Aurelien Tchouameni, players of colour who missed their penalties during the penalty shootout against Argentina in the final.

Coman who plays for Bayern Munich also got support from the German club. ‘FC Bayern family is behind you, King. Racism has no place in sport or our society', the club tweeted.

French sports minister Amelie Oudea-Castera also tweeted her support to all the players facing the racist remarks. She said, ‘the heinous comments have no place in football or anywhere else’
