Ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid footballer Eden Hazard announces retirement

Eden Hazard on Tuesday announced his retirement from football at the age of 32 after leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season.

During his time at Chelsea, Hazard won two Premier League titles. The Belgium star left the Blues in 2019 and joined Real Madrid but played just 54 league games. His contract was terminated in June and Hazard was a free agent since then.

'After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time,' said Hazard.

He had already retired from international football in December last year after Belgium was knocked out of the 2022 World Cup during the group stage.
