Ballon d’Or: Lionel Messi misses out for the first time since 2005, Ronaldo included in nominees list

For the first time in 17 years, Argentinean footballer Lionel Messi did not feature on the 30-man Ballon d'Or nominees list.

Seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi edged out Poland Robert Lewandoski for the prestigious award last year but was not nominated this time around after an underwhelming season at Paris Saint-Germain.
