Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his batting skills with a career-best unbeaten 179. Speaking after the end of the day's play, the 22-year-old left-hander emphasised he was focused on batting out sessions and capitalizing on loose deliveries.

Jaiswal's outstanding innings, marked by 17 fours and five sixes off 257 balls, played a pivotal role in India reaching 336 for 6 in 93 overs by the day's end. Reflecting on his approach, Jaiswal revealed, "I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls and play till the end."

Acknowledging the guidance from Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, Jaiswal expressed their encouragement to convert this innings into a substantial score. This innings follows his impressive debut against the West Indies last year, where he scored 171.

"Rahul (Dravid) sir and Rohit (Sharma) bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end," he added.

In contrast to the series opener in Hyderabad where he fell short at 80, Jaiswal was determined to convert his strong start into a formidable hundred in this match. Looking ahead, he expressed his desire to extend his innings further and contribute significantly for the team.

Commenting on the pitch conditions, Jaiswal noted, "The pitch played a bit differently as in the morning it was a bit damp and then it settled. With the older ball, there was some bounce."
