WPL 2023: From Mandhana to Deepti - Biggest Indian buys in Women's Premier League auction

With the inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) auction done and dusted, all the 5 franchises now have a full list of players who will be representing them in the 1st ever Women's Premier League in March.

Here are the biggest Indian buys of the WPL auction:

Smriti Mandhana -

26-year-old Smriti Mandhana broke the bank early on in the auction and became the most expensive player in WPL history, with Royal Challengers Bangalore paying her at a massive ₹3.4 Crore.

Deepti Sharma -

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma became the 2nd biggest Indian buy in the WPL auction, with the UP Warriorz buying her for ₹ 2.6 Crore.

Jemima Rodrigues

Just a day after her brilliant unbeaten fifty against Pakistan in the Women's T20 World Cup, Jemimah Rodrigues became the 3rd biggest Indian buy of the auction, with the Delhi Capitals buying her for ₹ 2.2 Crore.

Shafali Verma

Under-19 World Cup-winning skipper Shafali Verma, who is also considered as one of the most explosive T20 batters in the world, grabbed the 4th spot with Delhi coming in and buying her for ₹ 2 Crore.

Richa Ghosh and Pooja Vastrakar - Richa Ghosh, who showed her talent in India's first T20 World Cup game against Pakistan got the big bucks in the auction as she was roped in for ₹ 1.9 Crore by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Her teammate Pooja Vastrakar matched the sum as she was bought by the Mumbai Indians.
