World T20: Andy Flower appointed as Afghanistan's team consultant

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed former cricketer Andy Flower as the team consultant for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is slated to begin from 17th October. The Zimbabwean veteran has been playing a role in the administrative sector for a while now. He also coached England from 2009 to 2014, during which the English side won the 2010 T20 World Cup.

ACB chairman Azizullah Fazli was delighted to share the announcement. He said that Flower has worked with several Afghan cricketers in domestic cricket leagues which will help him get warmed up to the national side. The 53-year-old has already joined the Afghan team's bio-bubble in Qatar. Apart from playing 63 Tests and 213 ODIs for Zimbabwe, the southpaw has coached several T20 sides across the globe.
