Women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur wants India to play more Tests

The Indian women's cricket team will be playing just two Tests in 2023-24, one versus Australia and one versus England, and captain Harmanpreet Kaur believes that the number of Test fixtures for Team India should be increased.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Harmanpreet said, 'This year we have two Tests - one against England and one against Australia - and I hope those games can make a huge impact on women's cricket and hopefully in the future we will keep getting more Test matches.'

She emphasised the importance of the longest format in women's cricket saying, 'As a player, I definitely want more Tests because as a growing kid, we saw more Tests on TV than T20s. Nowadays, it's a lot of fun playing T20s but Test cricket is something every cricketer wants to play.'

India last played a Test in 2021 against Australia.

Harmanpreet called for more games and reasoned that there will be more improvement in women's cricket with a rise in the number of games and added that she wishes to see more talent in the Indian side.
