West Indian white-ball captain Kieron Pollard announces retirement from international cricket

In a sudden move, West Indies' white-ball captain Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.

However, the West Indian star all-rounder who is currently representing Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL tournament will continue to participate in T20 and T10 leagues across the globe.

Kieron Pollard broke the news in a statement on his Instagram handle.

"It was a dream of mine to play for West Indies since I was a 10-year-old boy and I am proud to represent the West Indies for over 15 years in T20 and ODI format of the game," Pollard said.

Pollard is regarded as one of the biggest hitters in the shortest format of the game. He became the third player after Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh in international cricket to hit six sixes in an over.

Despite having the stature of one of the biggest T20 stars, Pollard failed to leave an impression in international cricket as he scored 2706 ODI runs and 1567 runs in T20Is.

He hit three ODI centuries with 119 being his highest individual score. He took 55 wickets in the 50-over game. In T20Is, Pollard crossed the 50-run mark 6 times and he took 42 wickets. He never played Test cricket.
