Three days later, they will visit Bengaluru, with Punjab Kings coming to Lucknow next on April 15. They will meet the Royals in Jaipur on April 19 and defending champions Gujarat Titans will be at Ekana on the 22nd.
After a 5-day break, they will commence their second half of the IPL at Mohali, followed by 2 home matches against RCB &amp; CSK on May 1 &amp; 4. They will then travel to Ahmedabad on May 7, followed by a visit to Hyderabad on May 13. While the majority of overseas stars will be available from the start of the IPL season, players from South Africa &amp; Sri Lanka will miss the first few matches for their franchises.
The Proteas will be playing the remaining two ODIs from their Covid-interrupted series with the Netherlands till April 2. And the South Africans will be at full strength at home to give themselves the best chance of qualifying for the World Cup in India. A few of them will surely miss the first 2 matches for their franchises.
Three Sri Lankan stars too will be unavailable for initial rounds. Wanindu Hasaranga (RCB), Maheesh Theekshana &amp; Matheesha Pathirana (both CSK) are currently in New Zealand. Here's WHAT'S NEW!

Teams will be allowed to use an impact player at any time of the match, where they can replace a player from the starting XI with one of the five substitutes named at the toss.

The IPL is back!
And the 2023 edition will see many firsts which will add more excitement to the contests.
For one, teams will now pick their XIs after the toss, which means they'll have two sets of Playing XIs ready - one for if they're bowling and one for if they're batting.
And then there's the Impact Player rule, where teams will now name 5 substitutes in addition to their playing XIs. And they will be allowed to replace any of their players in the starting XI with one of those 5 substitutes at any point in the match. However, the impact player has to be an Indian if the team already has 4 overseas stars. Only when there are three or fewer foreigners in the XI, the team will be allowed to introduce another as an impact player.
Not to forget, the DRS has also undergone a revamp. Like in the Women's Premier League, the captains can now use DRS reviews to challenge no-ball &amp; wide calls made by the on-field umpires.

This matter has not been mooted or discussed at any ICC forum so far,&rdquo; Sethi said in the press release.
According to PTI, ICC had already stated that no discussions relating to the Cricket World Cup 2023 were carried out with PCB as BCCI had assured that visa won't be a problem for the Men in Green.

Only nine skippers attended the captains' meet in Ahmedabad a day before IPL 2023 kicks off, with Rohit Sharma being the notable omission.
According to media reports, the MI captain was unwell, thus, failed to travel to Ahmedabad for the pre-IPL captains' meeting and photoshoot.
However, reports suggest Rohit will most likely be available for Mumbai's opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2.
