Having conquered the much-awaited 71st international hundred, a milestone he managed to achieve after a 1020-day wait, Virat Kohli opened up about his achievement and the struggle that came before with his captain Rohit Sharma.

In a fun conversation between the two Indian stalwarts, Kohli explained how the team affording him space, the freedom to play his own game the past few days made a huge difference.

When asked about his special knock, Kohli told Rohit that the break he had prior to the Asia Cup, where he didn’t pick the bat for more than a month, did him a world of good.

Speaking about how the World Cup is their ultimate goal, Kohli explained that if he’s doing well, he can contribute to the team’s success in Australia. The 33-year-old also shared how he himself was surprised that he managed to reach the three-figure mark in a T20I.

Captain Rohit Sharma praised Kohli for the way he constructed his innings, calling it well-crafted. In reply, Kohli said that six-hitting is not his strength, his strength instead is to hit the boundaries and thread the gaps.

Kohli also spoke about the challenge ahead, the two series against Australia & South Africa at home before the marquee event Down Under. The former Indian captain said he feels what they are creating in the dressing room is very sacred to all of them.

India next play Australia in a 3-match T20I series that starts on Sep 20.
