Unmukt Chand becomes first Indian male cricketer to sign up for Big Bash League

Unmukt Chand has become the first Indian male player to bag a deal with a Big Bash League club. Melbourne Renegades signed up Chand on Thursday and he will now play in the upcoming edition of the BBL. Chand who retired from Indian cricket earlier this year to play for the United States is no longer under BCCI's contract, he can now play in domestic leagues like the BBL. While India's women cricketers have been featuring in BBL, the Indian board restricts the men cricketers from playing in other domestic leagues.

Calling it a great opportunity, the 28-year-old batter said that retiring from Indian cricket was a difficult decision to make, but he enjoyed playing cricket for US. Unmukt Chand led India to the U-19 World Cup title win in 2012 and has also played for Delhi, Mumbai and Rajasthan IPL teams.
