'Test Cricket needs India vs Pakistan' says PCB chief Ramiz Raja amid possible ICC blowout

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja stated that test cricket needs an "India vs Pakistan" series which has been a rare sight since the two sides have stopped playing against each other apart from major tournaments.

The PCB chief has been in news recently and had earlier said that if their hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup will be taken away, then the Pakistan board will most likely pull out from the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

Ramiz urged India to try and keep the political differences aside and participate in the Asia Cup being held in Pakistan next year.

"What happens if the government of Pakistan doesn't allow Pakistan to travel to India because of security issues?" Ramiz asked during an interview with BBC.

"It is quite an emotional subject here. The debate was started by the BCCI in a way. We had to respond. Test cricket needs India v Pakistan." He further added.

Earlier in October, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and BCCI secretary Jay Shah, had said that India will not travel to Pakistan next year for the 50-over Asia Cup event which led to several heated discussions on the matter.

India had last toured Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup ODI event.
