Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande become first No. 10 and 11 to score Ranji Trophy centuries

You don't expect number 10 and 11 to score hundreds in cricket but Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande did the unthinkable on Tuesday.

The Mumbai cricketers become first No. 10 and 11 to hit centuries in a Ranji Trophy innings as the pair put together a 232-run stand for the last wicket in the quarterfinal against Baroda.

Not just that but Tanush and Tushar also became only the second No. 10 and No. 11 pair in First-Class history to record centuries in the same innings. Chandu Sarwate and Shute Banerjee achieved the feat in a Surrey vs Indians match at the Oval in 1946.

In their quest to set a big total, Mumbai found themselves at 337/9 against Baroda. That's when Tanush and Tushar got together and helped Mumbai finish at 569 with a mammoth partnership. While Tanush Kotian remained unbeaten on 120, Tushar Deshpande scored 123.

It's only the third time an Indian pair has manage a 200-plus stand for the last wicket. Deshpande also became just the third Indian batter to score a First-Class hundred while batting at no. 11
