Tainted Indian cricketer S Sreesanth announces his retirement from domestic cricket

Tainted Indian cricketer S Sreesanth on Wednesday announced his retirement from domestic cricket, including 1st class and all other forms of the sport.

In a series of posts on Twitter, the former fast bowler wrote that he took the decision for the next generation of cricketers. 'It has been an honour to represent my family, my teammates and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game', the 39-year-old added.

In 90 international games, Sreesanth took 169 wickets, He was also a part of the Indian team which won the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

Sreesanth's career hit a roadblock in 2013 when was accused of spot-fixing in the IPL and was banned for life by the BCCI. The life ban was reduced to 7 years in 2019 and it ended on September 13 the following year. He made a comeback to the Ranji Trophy as the veteran pacer has been included in Kerala's 24-member preliminary squad in 2021.
