Shahid Afridi named Pakistan men's interim chief selector

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been named the interim chief selector of the Pakistan men's national team.

He will head an interim committee of selectors that includes former players Abdul Razzaq, Rao Ifthikar Ahmed and Haroon Rasheed.

The Afridi-led team, for now, will be responsible for the selection of the team for the home series against New Zealand. Pak are set to play a 2-match Test and 3-match ODI series vs NZ starting December 26th.

Both Afridi and Haroon are members of the cricket management committee, headed by Najam Sethi. The committee has been appointed to run the affairs of the game for the next four months.

The newly-appointed committee had removed Muhammad Wasim as the chief selector on Friday, a position he held since December 2020.
