England's newly-appointed head coach for Tests, Brendon McCullum opened up about his new role for the first time and said that it is a great opportunity to coach England.
"I look at this job and I think there's one country that can try and ensure that Test cricket not only sustains but also thrives, and that's England with the traditions and the support that it gets. So it's a big job at hand and I and I look forward to it," said McCullum.
The former New Zealand captain also added that his new job is not going to be easy but he knows how to handle the pressure that comes up with England's coaching job
"I understand that there's a lot of pressure which go with a job such as this. It's one of my skills as a player and, I guess, as a bit of a mentor or coach for guys moving forward is to try and block out some of that noise, some of that external stuff, which is important because also with the support and the sport grows.But it also can be quite difficult for players if they carry that baggage out onto the field. "
England have won just one of their last 17 Test matches. They will play a three-match Test series against New Zealand, starting June 2. Then Ben Stokes-led side will face India in the rescheduled fifth Test in July.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Wednesday.

Dinesh Karthik has been recently selected for India’s upcoming home T20I series against South Africa following his excellent performance in IPL.

Veteran Test cricketer Wriddhiman Saha has expressed his unwillingness to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, Cricket Association of Bengal President Avishek Dalmiya said. After a great outing in IPL 2022, Saha had been included in the Ranji squad for the upcoming Ranji knockouts. This reportedly annoyed him as the decision was not taken with his consultation. Following this, the 37-year-old exited the team's WhatsApp group and informed about his decision to not participate in Ranji Trophy. Dalmiya said that the management tried its best to convince him. However, Saha has made up his mind to not play for Bengal again, he added. While the wicket-keeper batter is yet to ask for the no-objection certificate from the state association, the CAB president said that it will be given to him, whenever he asks for it. This might turn out to be the end of Saha's Ranji Trophy career. Saha who made his debut in 2007 has played 122 first-class and 102 List A matches.Bengal will play their Ranji quarterfinal on June 6 against Jharkhand.

England all-rounder Sam Curran who played only a handful of matches in the 2021 edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League revealed the reason behind opting out of the upcoming mega auction which will take place on Feb 12th ad 13th. The 23-year-old cricketer who played for Chennai Super Kings suffered a lower back injury during the 2021 season and was forced to cut the season short. 
In his Twitter post, Curran wrote that he was advised to not enter the IPL auction this year and to focus on his rehabilitation. He informed that while he is back in the nets, he will take some more time and will likely start the season with Surrey. Big names like Ben Stokes, Chris Gayle, Jofra Archer have opted out of the mega-auctions for the upcoming IPL.
