Ruturaj Gaikwad puts pressure on Shikhar Dhawan over ODI opener slot

After getting dropped from T20Is, Shikhar Dhawan's place in India's ODI squad is also in doubt for the upcoming South Africa tour. Dhawan failed to impress in India's domestic ODI competition, Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad has continued from where he left in the IPL 2021 and smashed three back-to-back centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

On the other hand, Dhawan has scored only 26 runs, getting dismissed for a duck, 12, 14 in the three games.

Dhawan was India's white-ball captain for the Sri Lanka series when most of India's senior players were in England for the Test series.

Dhawan had a mixed outing with the bat as captain during the Sri Lanka tour. In the ODIs, he scored 128 runs in three games with 86 being his highest score.
