Rohit Sharma on the cusp of matching this huge MS Dhoni captaincy milestone | India vs Afghanistan

As Rohit Sharma returns to lead Team India in the shortest format, the Hitman is on the cusp of matching a huge MS Dhoni milestone in T20Is.

Rohit, as India captain, has so far won 39 of the 51 T20Is he has captained in, while Dhoni holds the record of leading India to most wins in the shortest format. Under MSD, the Men in Blue won 42 of their 72 matches.

India's 3-match T20I series against Afghanistan starts on January 11, and if India manage to whitewash the visitors, Rohit will become the joint-most successful Indian skipper in men's T20I history.

The BCCI added Rohit and Virat Kohli to India's T20I squad despite the duo having last played a T20 game for India way back on 10 November 2022.

Reportedly, Hardik Pandya was to lead the home team but since him along with Suryakumar Yadav are in rehabilitation, Rohit was asked to lead the side.

The board also made it clear that both Virat and Rohit are part of its T20 World Cup plan.
