Rohit Sharma faces intense scrutiny amidst IPL 2025

Rohit Sharma is currently under significant scrutiny due to a string of underwhelming performances in the IPL 2025. The former captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) has had a challenging start to the season, accumulating scores of 0, 8, and 13 in his first three outings.

These performances have contributed to MI's inconsistent start, leaving them sixth in the points table with just one victory from three matches. Notably, the team secured their sole win at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after dropping their first two games.

Ahead of their upcoming clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow, a conversation between Rohit Sharma and LSG mentor Zaheer Khan has become a hot topic on social media.

In the video, Rohit is heard saying, "Jo jab karna tha, maine kiya barabar se, ab mereko kuch karne ki zarurat nahi hai," translating to "Whatever had to be done, I did it properly, now I don't need to do anything." Rishabh Pant's playful interruption with a hug adds a lighter note to the viral clip, sparking various interpretations and speculations among fans.

The upcoming match at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow holds significant importance, especially for Sharma.

In the ongoing tournament, he has managed only 21 runs over three innings, with an average of 7.00 and a strike rate of 105.00. His highest score so far is 13, raising concerns among fans and analysts alike.

Historically, Rohit's IPL performances have been inconsistent, with notable peaks but frequent troughs. Since 2017, he has surpassed the 400-run mark in a season only twice—scoring 405 runs in 2019 and achieving 417 runs, including a century, in 2024. Compared to his international acclaim for a robust batting style, his IPL strike rate is relatively low against peers, clocking in at 130.09 over 118 matches with 2,775 runs.

When facing LSG, Rohit's performance has been modest, with an average of 27.50 and a strike rate of 142.24 over six innings, including a single half-century with a high score of 68.

As Mumbai Indians prepare to face off against Lucknow Super Giants, fans can only hope for a turnaround in form from the player nicknamed "The Hitman," who has yet to find his rhythmic groove this season. All eyes will be on Rohit Sharma as he endeavors to recapture his form and bolster his team's performance in this crucial fixture.
