Star Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan recently underwent minor lower-back surgery in the UK, as confirmed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

The board stated that Rashid, a crucial player in the team's success against formidable opponents like England and Pakistan in the World Cup, received treatment from renowned surgeon Dr James Alibone in the UK. The surgery aims to address his lower back issues and the ACB anticipates a swift recovery for the talented spinner.

Unfortunately, this means Rashid will miss out on the upcoming Big Bash League, commencing December 7.

Tim Nielsen, GM of Cricket at Adelaide Strikers said, "Rashid is a beloved member of the Strikers and a fan favourite who has been with us for seven years, so he will be extremely missed this summer."

He further added, "Our list management and coaching staff will now look at our options for replacing Rashid for the upcoming season and a replacement player will be announced in due course."

Fellow cricketer Mohammad Nabi shared a post-surgery image of Rashid on social media, accompanied by a heartfelt message wishing him a speedy recovery.

The news of Rashid's surgery follows an earlier announcement by the Adelaide Strikers about his impending operation, disrupting his participation in the BBL.
