Ranji Trophy is back! The premier domestic tournament returns after 2 years

After being cancelled last year, India's premier domestic tournament, the Ranji Trophy returns amid the easing Covid-19 situation in the country.

The opening fixture between defending champions Saurashtra and record 41-time champions Mumbai promises to be a mouth-watering affair. India's senior batting pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara will be on either side and will be eyeing to impress with the bat after a poor run in international cricket.

The tournament was pushed back due to the rising Covid-19 cases in the country but a significant drop in the positivity rate allowed the BCCI to conduct the Ranji Trophy.

9 bio-bubbles have been created across as many venues in the country. The players had to quarantine for 5 days, leaving them only 2 days of training for the first round beginning on Thursday.
