R Ashwin gives an epic response to Michael Vaughan for calling Team India an 'underachieving side'

Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin of Team India recently responded to Michael Vaughan's comments, characterising the Indian squad as the most underperforming group in international cricket.

R Ashwin gives an epic response to Michael Vaughan for calling Team India an 'underachieving side'

Former England captain Michael Vaughan sparked a discussion last week when he implied that despite having a lot of skill and resources, the Indian cricket team had not performed to its full potential.

In a recent conversation, Vaughan asked former Australian batter Mark Waugh a question concerning the Indian team. "They haven't had a lot of success lately. They seem like an underachieving side to me. Nothing is won by them. When did they last experience success? They ought to have accomplished more given their talent and skill set, Vaughan added.

Ashwin responded to the statement with his thoughts. The great spinner acknowledged that India hasn't won an ICC trophy since 2013, but he also claimed that the team has been outstanding in Test matches played abroad.

Ashwin emphasised India's capacity to function well under trying circumstances. The fact that cricket specialists are detached from reality amused him.

"According to Michael Vaughan, India is a team that doesn't perform well. Even though we are the dominant side in the game, I am aware that we haven't won an ICC trophy in the last ten years, but recently, our Test team has been the best travelling team. Big series victories for us," R Ashwin declared.

Even though Ashwin acknowledged that India had lost the last two World Test Championship finals, he believes the team has performed admirably in the longest format of the game when it comes to overseas missions.
