Prithvi Shaw strikes a majestic hundred in Ranji Trophy

In just his second innings after his return from injury, Prithvi Shaw scored a sensational hundred during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy game against Chhattisgarh in Raipur on February 9. This innings comes after Shaw's brief yet impactful 35-run contribution in Mumbai's innings victory over Bengal at Eden Gardens, showcasing his readiness to excel post-injury.

The Ranji Trophy is Shaw's first foray back into cricket following a hiatus due to a knee injury he suffered while playing in the County Championship in 2023. His promising tenure with Northamptonshire in England was cut short, but after a period of recovery and rehabilitation with the National Cricket Academy's physiotherapists in Bengaluru, Shaw has bounced back with vigour.

Under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai elected to bat first, setting the stage for Shaw to take charge. He wasted no time in asserting his dominance over the Chhattisgarh bowlers, racing to a 50-run milestone in a mere 43 balls. Shaw, playing as the right-handed opener, continued to lead the scoring charge while his partner, Bhupen Lalwani, supported from the other end.

Capitalizing on his aggressive start, Shaw transformed his innings into a monumental hundred, achieving his 13th first-class century off just 102 deliveries.
