Prakhar Chaturvedi: Karnataka youngster smashes 400, breaks Yuvraj Singh's record in Cooch Behar Trophy

Prakhar Chaturvedi made history in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy final against Mumbai in Shimoga, achieving an unprecedented quadruple century. This incredible feat saw him shattering Yuvraj Singh's 24-year record of 358, which was previously the highest individual score in a tournament final. Chaturvedi's 404 not out propelled him to second place in the tournament's all-time individual high scores, trailing only behind Vijay Zol's 451 not out.

Chaturvedi's monumental innings played a pivotal role in Karnataka's dominant performance, as they outplayed Mumbai and secured victory based on a first-innings lead. Karnataka amassed an imposing total of 890 for 8 in response to Mumbai's 380 all out, with Chaturvedi's 404 not out coming off 638 balls, including 46 fours and three sixes.

This remarkable achievement marked a significant turnaround for Chaturvedi, who initially wasn't selected for the Under-19 squad this season. His extraordinary performance not only redeemed his season but now hints at the possibility of him making his debut for the Karnataka senior team in the Ranji Trophy. This comes in the same season where he missed out on selection for the India Under-19 World Cup team.
