PCA chief resigns after Harbhajan Singh's allegations of 'illegal activities'

Gulzar Inder Singh Chahal, the president of the Punjab Cricket Association has stepped down from his position days after former cricketer and PCA's chief advisor Harbhajan Singh flagged alleged 'illegal activities' being carried out in the Association.

As per reports, Chahal who took over in May was under pressure from the PCA Apex Council and the Punjab government.

Earlier this month, in a letter, addressed to PCA members and the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Harbhajan hinted at wrongdoings in the organisation. He, however, did not name any individual in his letter.

As per his letter, the body had been keen on inducting 150 members with voting rights to tilt the balance in their favour. The inductions, Harbhajan said, were being done without the apex council's assent, which is against BCCI's guidelines.

The retired cricketer further informed that he will not represent PCA in the upcoming BCCI's AGM and the members of the state board will take a decision on it.
