'Opportunities to create leaders', Rahul Dravid on 6 captains in 8 months

Since Virat Kohli stepped down as India's skipper for the shortest format of the game, Team India has been led by 5 different skippers. But, head coach Rahul Dravid has no complaints about it.

From the time Dravid took over the coaching duties, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya (for the upcoming Ireland series) have all served as the skippers for the Indian side in different formats of the game. Dravid highlighted that though it wasn't the plan, a lot of factors especially Covid-19 contributed to a situation like this.

Analysing its perks, the head coach said, 'I have to work with quite a few people, it is fun and a lot of other guys have got the opportunity to lead we have gt the opportunity to create more leaders'

Further, Dravid also spoke about the reason behind persisting with the same combination despite losing 2 games on the trot at the beginning of the 5-match T20I series. 'I don't like judging people after one game or series, the guys who got the opportunity, deserve it, in this format of the game you are going to have some good games and bad games, both', Dravid said.

The series decider in Bengaluru was called off due to heavy rain and the 5-match T20I series between India and South Africa ended all square.
