New Zealand's former captain Brendon McCullum appointed as England's new head coach

The current KKR coach and New Zealand's legendary cricketer Brendon McCullum has been appointed as England's new head coach for Test matches on Thursday.

40-year-old McCullum will start his new role for the England cricket team against New Zealand in June if he would be able to obtain the necessary work visa.

In a press statement, McCullum said that Ben Stokes is the perfect character to inspire the change around him, and he is looking forward to working closely with him to build a formidable England Test team.

The former New Zealand captain has no coaching experience in the longest format of cricket. However, he led Kolkata Knight Riders to the final as a coach while won the Caribbean Premier League title for Trinbago Knight Riders in 2020.

McCullum had played 101 Tests for New Zealand and captained the Kiwis from 2012 to his international retirement in 2016.

McCullum has scored 6453 runs in 101 Tests with 302 being his highest individual score.
