Najmul Hossain Shanto named Bangladesh captain across all formats for 1 year

In a significant development within Bangladesh cricket, Najmul Hossain Shanto has been appointed as the national team's captain across all formats for the upcoming year. This announcement was made by BCB president Nazmul Hassan, marking a pivotal shift in leadership roles within the team. The decision comes as somewhat unexpected, especially in the T20I domain, where Shakib Al Hasan was anticipated to helm the leadership until the T20 World Cup slated for June.

While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had initially considered Shakib for the ODI captaincy, they ultimately decided on Shanto for the position. This decision was influenced by Shakib's revelation of an eye condition that would prevent him from participating in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, thereby affecting his availability.
