Mohammed Siraj: What Indian pacer said after his spell of 6/21 in Asia Cup final | India vs Sri Lanka

Mohammed Siraj: What Indian pacer said after his spell of 6/21 in Asia Cup final | India vs Sri Lanka

Mohd Siraj was the hero for India as the Men in Blue won their record-extending 8th Asia Cup title, their first-ever multi-nation trophy since the continental championships back in 2018.

The 29-year-old was ecstatic after his match-winning performance when blew away the Sri Lankan batters in a matter of minutes.

Speaking after his surreal spell of 6/21, which saw him complete a 5-wicket haul in the space of just 10 deliveries, he said, "Feels like a dream. Last time I did the same against Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram. Got four wickets early, but couldn't get the five-for. I realised you get what's in your destiny."

Siraj, who missed out on a 5-wicket haul when Sri Lanka were bowled out for 73 in Thiruvananthapuram earlier this year, ensured he got to the coveted milestone this time around. He also completed 50 ODI wickets in the process, the 4th fastest Indian bowler to do so.

On his game plan for the Sri Lankan batters in the final, he revealed, "Did not try too much today. I have always looked for swing in white-ball cricket. Did not find much in the previous games. But today it was swinging, and I got more wickets with the outswinger. Wanted to make the batters drive."
